1. Introduction

Welcome to RAD Timer ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our GPS race timing mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

This policy is designed to comply with Google Play Developer Program Policies, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy laws.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register for an account, we collect:

Full name
Email address
Encrypted password
Profile preferences and settings

2.2 Location and GPS Data

The core functionality of the App requires precise GPS data. We collect:

Real-time GPS coordinates during an active race session
Race route data, split times, and finish timestamps
Speed and distance metrics derived from GPS

Important: Location data is collected only while the App is open and a race session is actively in progress. We do not collect background location data when the App is closed or idle.

2.3 Payment Information

If you purchase a subscription or event entry fee, payments are processed by a certified third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials on our servers. We retain only a transaction reference ID and the last four digits of your payment method for record-keeping.

2.4 Technical and Usage Data

We automatically collect limited technical data to operate and improve the App:

Device type and operating system version
App version and crash and error reports
General usage analytics (features used, session duration)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following purposes only:

To create and manage your account
To provide GPS race timing, tracking, and results features
To process payments and maintain transaction records
To send race results, event updates, and account notifications
To diagnose bugs and improve App performance
To comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell your data to any third party.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in these limited circumstances:

Payment Processing: Payment details are shared with our payment processor solely to complete transactions. They operate under their own privacy policies and security standards.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before any such transfer.
With Your Consent: We may share information for any other purpose only with your explicit prior consent.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as required to provide services. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 8). Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial transaction records).

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information:

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS)
Passwords and sensitive fields are stored using strong encryption
Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. 8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of any inaccurate data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.

Withdraw Consent: Opt out of non-essential data collection via App settings at any time.

9. Location Permissions

The App requests access to your device's precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION). This permission is used exclusively to power GPS race timing features. You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; however, doing so will prevent core App features from working.

We do not request background location access. Location tracking is active only when the App is in the foreground and a race session is in progress.

10. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Google Play Services — app delivery and crash reporting
Payment Processor (e.g., Stripe) — secure payment handling

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this document and notify you via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
